  The turning point for MJ was when LaToya was disfellowshiped. The elders came down hard on him to cut all association as he was involved in her fledgling music career. Michael refused to cut association and when the elders weren’t dropping it, he decided to disassociate. It was supposedly after confiding in Marlon Brando about what was happening and Marlon told him he didn’t need that kind of toxicity in his life.

  FYI - that Leah Remini podcast was recorded in late 2021 before Lloydgate. He refers to IICSA as an current thing and references an article he wrote for the National Secular Society in August 2021 as recent.

  Still: He goes into the pedophile database, ARC and the two witness rule just minutes in. He also managed to criticise the organisation’s stance towards not allowing women to divorce unless it’s scriptural, whilst at the same time essentially forcing an open marriage on his wife and leaving her and the kids during the holidays because she backed out of it.

  It’s all in the Reluctant Apostate too. Father is Jonathan - a man he despised as a chronically unemployed moron. Mother is Lesley who was married twice before Jonathan, who died of cancer and he viewed as inheriting his intelligence from. Sister is Hannah - an emotionally damaged person per Lloyd’s account.

  He rips into his father so harshly that it’s difficult to find much sympathy when he waxes on about how he won’t see his granddaughters. If he’s as bad of a man as Lloyd suggests then what’s the huge issue here? I also find it damaging to young children to tell them their grandfather refuses to see them. It’s only half the story anyway because Lloyd insists he sees him as well in order to see the kids.

  How/when/where did Lloyd and Dijana meet and get married? I just wonder where that fits in.

  From the pdf.. er I mean "digital copy purchased through Amazon" of TRA, he was virtually seeing an American on study in the Midlands. She totally wanted to fuck him and they arranged for a weekend at his dad's place when he was out of town but Lloyd "pulled out". This was in early 2006. In June 2006 he travelled to Croatia at Miroslav's invitation. Miroslav was a Croatian attendee at MTS School. He spoke of fantasising about meeting a "Croatian girl" during this MTS reunion with Miroslav. Along with 9 other brothers from MTS, they flew into Zagreb and somehow Lloyd was the first one who made it into Sisak. An English-speaking brother there arranged for him to give a talk in English at the local congregation even though few could understand it. Here's how they met per the Reluctant Apostate:

  At the end of the meeting, a pretty young girl with dark eyes and raven hair approached me. Her flawless features reminded me of the singer Katie Melua. In perfect English, she thanked me for my talk and said she had enjoyed it. “By the way, I’m Deeyana,” she said.

  In my mind, I was Adam in the Garden of Eden— and Dijana was my Eve. I had discovered Dijana was a pioneer who was very highly spoken of by the local brothers, which ticked a major box on my list of requirements. I pursued her relentlessly with my camcorder, trying to get her attention. As you might expect, this paparazzi approach did little to endear me to her. To further complicate matters, it appeared I was not the only one smitten. A couple of the more handsome specimens from my class were moving in and trying their luck.

  Lloyd and two other brothers were in open competition over Dijana's affections. In the weeks following his return to England phone calls and emails were exchanged which spawned a relationship. He convinced her to relocate to England as an au pair. After 6 months of dating (roughly July 2006 to January 2007) he proposed with a cheap silver ring he could barely afford after rowing her out to the middle of Grasmere Lake in the Lake District.

  They were married at the registry office in Malinska, Croatia on 14 July 2007. They had a Witness only gathering on a hotel balcony following the vows. Their honeymoon was driving back to the UK with stops in Venice, the Swiss Alps and Paris.

  Yes I get that. I noted that I was going by Lloyd’s own story which was bound to have a lot of details left out and facts twisted.

  Was Evans publicly reproved in Bramhall then? Or not at all? If not at all, this is a fairly significant lie which would lend credence to the notion of a cover up and him fleeing the country.

  I think it makes more sense that the letter or confession he gave was to his dad, not another Wilmslow elder. That would explain his expressed feeling that the matter had been closed by resigning as an elder.

  And cybersexting isn’t that high up on the JW sin list, especially for and elder and son of an elder. Certainly not enough to warrant fleeing the country. He could have remained an elder had it only been cybersexting.

  What year was Evan’s Committee meeting?

  I assume you mean the first one we know of - the one in the UK? There was a second one in Croatia. FYI - Evans is not disfellowshipped - he is disassociated.

  The year was 2008. All of this is from Evans's own account, so you can probably count on many omissions, half-truths and blatant lies.

  1. 2007 - Evans is appointed an elder. They move to Bramhall congregation and out of the Wilmslow one where his dad was/is an elder.
  2. As an elder in Bramhall congregation, Evans comes into conflict with a man he calls "Geoffrey". True to form, Evans believes Geoffrey has a grudge against him and is constantly seeking to undermine him.
  3. 2008 - Dijana catches him sexting someone he met in an online chat forum "not for the first time".
  4. Evidently she felt this was an ongoing problem and wanted him to come clean to the elders. Evans wanted to keep it private and handle it within the marriage.
  5. Her viewpoint prevailed, probably at the threat of her leaving because as we know Evans is not keen to follow other people's advice.
  6. Evans insisted on first switching halls back to Wilmslow in order to avoid Geoffrey. (I think this detail is rather important, especially if Geoffrey had knowledge of Evans's other alleged proclivities)
  7. As soon as the paperwork cleared and he was an elder transferred back to Wilmslow, Evans authors a confession letter describing his sins with the cybersexting and resigns as an elder. He places the envelope underneath the door of a Wilmslow elder and expects him resigning as an elder to be the end of the matter and was making plans to move to Croatia.
  8. Per policy since a sin was committed and confessed to, the Wilmslow elders wanted to convene a Judicial Committee. As an elder Evans should have known this and it is odd that he felt a written confession would be the end of the matter.
  9. A series of judicial committees is held, the exact number of which is unspecified. The end result was Evans being deleted as an elder and being publicly reproved in BOTH the Wilmslow and Bramhall congregations.
  10. Evans and wife move to Croatia. He initially is assigned reading scriptures in his poor and heavily accented Croatian and begins to slowly fade. In his isolation due to his inability to follow the programme in Croatian, he begins having doubts.
  11. 2011 - He joins this forum as "cedars". It was his first foray into the apostate world.
  12. 29 December 2013 - During a judicial committee for apostasy in Croatia Lloyd Evans hands in a disassociation letter for both himself and his wife. His letter simply stated that he resigned as a JW. His wife's was longer and evidently ambiguous - enough so that the elders felt they should have their own meeting with her.

  Let's quit pretending this is a real case because it's not. The fact he retained counsel is what confuses the issue because it seems to give it validity when it has none. If he really wanted to, he could retain a lawyer to sue Queen because he was under the impression that Freddie Mercury was on lead vocals. Retaining counsel doesn't prove anything but the fact Lloyd has/had a decent sized savings account accrued from donations.

  The fact that he admitted all the basic points people keep bringing up is what kills this litigation at the root.

  If this were a real case where there are criminal penalties, jail time, fines and restitution at stake, the defense would call Dijana to the stand and serve them discovery requests that Lloyd has no intention of ever complying with.

  The success of this case relies (in part) on some half-baked legal theory which Lloyd publicly espouses about criminal convictions in absentia. All over people talking shit over the internet about him and his admissions on his livestream. If it were that easy, celebrities, athletes and politicians could have a side career suing people making negative comments about them on social media.

  Makes you wonder, if he has a lot of money, why did he choose to stay in the same house as his parents in law all these years?

  The answer to that question was made clear round the time he had relocated to a hotel in Istria on the northern Croatian coast after the earthquake. He tweeted out something to the effect that he didn’t want his girls growing up in Sisak where the standard of living was low and suggested he was going to begin looking at properties in Istria.

  At the end of the Andrew Gold interview, he said something about living in retirement on an island with a fishing boat. He probably had enough to purchase a place in Istria but living on the coast or on an island is a few steps up from that and won’t come cheap.

  There was also the problem of his wife and he likely was also looking for a place to deposit her and the girls on the mainland whilst he had sex holidays at his island retreat.

  This whole scandal has jeopardised all of these grandiose plans and it’s notable that he mentioned to Andrew Gold that he regretted he could not reach out to every lapsed Patron to tell them they have been misled and to invite them to donate again. He doesn’t want to go back to 2017-2018 levels. He wants that 1000 patron goal for a reason. I think he was planning on living a life of semi-retirement from exJW activism at his beach retreat and handing over the keys to the Lloyd Evans channel to a Mark O’Donnell type whilst at the same time keeping all Patrons and donations for the channel and giving whoever took it over a salary similar to Tibor’s. He envisioned an “activist emeritus” position for himself and he could be interviewed by Zoom whenever the next WT scandal broke.

  This is also why he cancelled a planned two month sojourn in Thailand and rushed back to Croatia after three weeks in order to stop his wife from divorcing him. He doesn’t want a public divorce and at the time all his activities had been kept secret. It also puts strain on his finances to pay child and spousal support, especially when based off Ipsilon Media earnings.

  Hmmm ever wonder how he might have enticed his wife back into a marriage arrangement during this last holiday? I hope she put her foot down for a home deeded to only herself.

  So appropriate for penniless ex JWs still trying to gain their own balance to donate to him so he can have a home on an island & to pay the wife off so he doesn’t struggle to pay child support.

  He’s a walking pile of contradictions. He went absolutely batshit over Brexit, blocking people left and right who expressed support. Though it is common for a British expat in a country like Croatia to keep a bank account in local currency and one in pound sterling, the very lengths he went to in describing how a devaluing of his reserve currency would affect his finances was a bit revealing as to how much he had in savings.

  He then wrote a lengthy blog post for his Lloyd Evans website advocating for a Brexit re-vote after admitting that even though he was eligible and registered, he did not vote in the referendum or in the recent election.

  This after several tweets about how Johnson was about to become prime minister even though he did not vote!

  Perhaps he needs to open a third account in Thai Baht?
